I have all the transmitter air capacitors and the coil from a 10/80 radio. My question is can I build a antenna tuner with these parts?

These are the interior pictures of my 2 tuners.
The pictures above and one's posted before, are Truly what is needed for transmitting type tuners using Balance Line.
Those receiver-type caps can be used, but your talking power ratings of 10-50 watts PEP output.
To use a tuner correctly if using 100 watts carrier, IMHO minimum size tuner rating is 600 watts.
That DX100 needs a tuner rated at a KW by today's standard rating.
EF Johnson made a tuner for that called a Johnson Matchbox...It's rated at 275 watts Continous Carrier I used one on SSB and ran a KW through it.
With antenna tuners... it's go BIG or stand-by for smoke, fire and radio damage!!!

The palstar bt1500 is a very nice tuner. The only new balanced tuner that I know of.

A guy can make the same balanced tuner by rolling a pair of coils, using clip leads and a variable cap. It doesn't need a case. You can mount the parts to scrap plywood. If you use copper tubing and a vacuum variable it will take thousands of watts.

Roller inductors are nice until they get some wear or dust on them.
