I have two Anytone radios, a 5555N2 and a 6666.  I've tried several mics on both, and both radios sound the best on the unmodified stock mic.


These radios use electret mics, which as stated in the post above this, are an entirely different animal than your old fashioned dynamic mic!


Just read the manual, hook up the radio to a good power supply and a decent antenna at least 36 feet in the air, and have fun!   I've talked all over North America on the barefoot 6666 in my SUV and that's with just a three foot firestick on the front left fender.


One other bit of advice.....  that 6666 is a fabulous freeband radio.  Buying a radio like that and then staying on the regular 40 is pretty much like buying a sports car and never leaving your driveway.  Lots and lots of frequencies to explore!
