APRS COMMS/VIDEO

Soundcard APRS modem, huh? I'm going to have to give this a try. Thanks for the video!

The 'AGW' sound card modem has been around for quite a while, it works just fine. There are two versions of it, the free 'AGW' packet engine and the 'Pro' (PEPRO) version. The PEPRO version is not free but is much easier to use (at least for me). And, there are two versions of that PEPRO, the 'older' version and a newer version that are slightly different in the user interface. Both do the same thing, just a different way of accessing/presenting the operation of it.
The 'Tracker' program is a completely different animal, I don't use it so can't say much about it. It basically presents the information in a tabular form, not on a 'map', sort of. I'm only interested in a graphic display of positions so the 'Tracker' program isn't all that useful to me.
The PEPRO TNC/soundcard modem is the only modem I use. It's worked well with anything I've done with APRS, and most APRS programs have a selection for the 'AGW' TNC in their setup. Not having another TNC I can't make any comparison, but can say that it's at least one device I don't have to mess with (fixed, mobile, whatever).

Psst - and it's free.
