Today’s in person no scam score……I don’t really know what to look for, but I don’t see any internal issues that jump out at me. Interested to hear what others think. Seller reports it working well, I’ll order a Klondike Mike recap kit and send it to my tech before I hook it up…..face is rough, probably nothing I can do about that…..

Says it’s good for the 100w version.

Consider keeping a couple of totaled wrecks on blocks in the backyard for parts when needed.

Parts radios are gold for maintaining any radio built from parts you can't buy as new replacements.
Like the Op that was selling his complete FT101B collection (last year Fort Wayne hamfest)...Sold as complete only! Came with like 6 parts radios...at least 2 of every accessory parts rigs (VFO/Scope etc._...blah blah...He took it ALL home...He thought it was worth more than combined total of suggested retail from 45+ years ago!!!! :ROFLMAO:

My mentor had a couple or those and the 3300 models as well. His had the 100 watt upgrade and the SP-1a and they where great. That radio was the inspiration for the RCI2950.

As I understand it like a good many radio's the transmit and receive design is based off of Cybernet circuit designs. Hence the strong audio and receive.

Actually, the Clear Channel AR3300/3500 and Ranger Communications Inc RCI-2900 and 2950/2970 were redesigned from the original export CB Cobra 148GTL-DX. Made by Uniden. There was also the Teaberry Stalker 9FM, then the President Grant-DX, President Jackson-DX, all Uniden designs. They either used MB8719 or MC145106 PLLs. The Cybernet exports used (mostly) PLL-02A (MC145109). The Cybernets were also very easy to receive bleedover. The Unidens were a lot tighter on their receive. Not as tight as the Uniden made 148GTL or 2000GTL, though.

Hoping to find an SP-1A, though I’m not sure how proud people are of them…..

From a FB comment regarding my new rig -

“Your AR-3500 has the optional 2.6Khz receive IF filter. Pay close attention to the narrow if filter alignment procedure. Not the standard 1Khz offset procedure will misalign it.”

Is this similar to the “tight” Uniden filtering you mentioned ?

First radio I’ve ever had that had manufacturer options….

No. Cobra 148GTL made by Uniden, The Grant XL etc... series have 3kc wide, 6 pole filters, hence the 1.5kc PLL and Carrier offsets. The exports use a 4kc wide, 4 pole filter (and 2.5kc offsets), where the AR3300 and AR3500 had either the 4kc wide filter (same as above), or the optional 2.6kc.

Yup

I bought the 3300 kit from you few years ago under the assumption it would work with the 100w versions, turns out it does not, its short a few caps.
