Honestly, the biggest factor was durability.  The Elk advertises a little more gain than the Arrow Yagi, but the gain is useless if the antenna is broken.  I'm hard on stuff, especially things that are going in the RV or in the back of the jeep.  It's not that I'm intentionally hard on it, but things get stacked, then jostled around, and sooner or later something gets broken.  I really wasn't crazy about the PVC shaft on the Elk antenna - that looked to me like something I would end up repairing too often.  Those fears may be slightly misfounded, but I'm just passing on my own personal experiences.  Since they're both basically the same price, I decided to go with the one that looked like would last longer for me.
