I purchased my first Astatic mic a couple years ago and I was amazed at the increase of sound quality over the stock mics I had been using. The sound was crisp and clear. The cord is not of the best quallity. I hang my mic on the dash and the weight of the cord is enough to over stretch it. Overal I think it is still a good bargain.
I was never really interested in the Turner Road King because I don't really care for the 50s styling. I ended up with one that came with a radio I purchased on ebay. My Astatic wasn't giving me enough punch on my 95t. I was noticing that my voice peaks only brought my MOD meter to about 75-80%. I started trying different mics to see if I could bring it up to 90-100%. My dynamic mics, such as my Astatic 611L and General SRA-158, squealed when using talkback. I decided to go to my radio bench and dig out the Turner. It seemed to match up with my radio better than the 636L. My audio was still clean and crisp and it added a little more punch. My MOD meter was right were I wanted it, peaking at about %95. I guess the look of it might grow on me.
