Hey guys,
I have an Echomax that I use most of the time on my RCI 2990. I had been using through out the contest and when talking local.I was in the middle of a qso with Ron 897 and when I went back to key it was dead! I thought maybe the battery died so I replaced it and still nothing....... anyone have any ideas whats up with it?????

does it at least still key the radio ? try another mic to make sure it isn't the radio ? take the Astatics mic plug apart and make sure all the wires are in place and that none might have came un-soldered ? check the battery wires that might have come undone from the mic's board ? if all has checked out so far ? now you can follow the coil cord into the mic itself and make sure all of those are soldered to the board as should be ? Good luck from there.

I also have one thats dead I thought it was the element because you have to literally scream into it to get any mod meter response at all it jumps up then falls on its face I tried a new element but that wasnt it I cant figure mine out either.

I hear Astatic still does repair work ? but boy is it exspensive !! You have to get an RMA # first from them ....I think it's like 37.00 for them to just look at it and then that per hour after the fact .....something along those lines anyway...with shipping you could be looking at over 100.00 bucks through them for a repair !!! Sure wish you guys the best of luck on those mic's .....it might be better for you guy's if you were to hook up with one of the Forum sites note worthy's.....IM sure it would be a much cheaper way to go rather then Astatic.

yeah ...I don't much care for those ither but it just seems like everything is micro nowadays ....a sign of the times. I wouldn't doubt in the future that all mic plugs might end up being like that ? If that should be the case ? I guess wiring mic's will be a whole new ball game ? )-: Good to hear you found the problem SC . SK

Sorry for being off topic but i hope the truck in the pic is a photochop cause i would hate to have to back that thing at an east coast grocery warehouse :D

gawsh that SOB is long I to wouldnt want to back that up!!! Why would they stretch that like that??? Just for something different??? I bet it rides smoother than ever though.....

maybe they could play tow truck if they weren't hauling anything ? ,looks big enough to haul a big truck up there. ??
