Hello,

because my old Astro Plane has been stolen and is not to buy more in Germany, I want the AP rebuild now.
Unfortunately I have no photos and documents from the old AP.
I've found on the internet a list of parts.
But now I have a few questions:
Holding the plastic part No.4 of 2 parts?
was the pipe within part 4 of aluminum?
How was the SO239 socket connected to the pipe in Part 4?
Could I take any brass tube for it?
What material thickness had the tubes of the AP?
I know I have many questions but I want the AP to reconstruct as accurately as possible.
The part 4 I have already but still in a part without a hole.

Thanks for info

Hello Manfred...

Im not sure if it is of use...

But there is a guy in the Netherlands (south part near german border)

He has a couple astroplanes up for sale.
They are new old stock. (avanti)

And not expensive i believe as in The Netherlands the astroplane is not a favourite antenna ...dont know why..

He wont send them.
But perhaps you have a friend in that area ?

I could bring you two in contact if needed.

Hello,
@ Homer: I had your self-built AP seen nice part for little money. Did not you get an old AP?
Since you would have to see how thick the aluminum tube. Since we have a lot of rain and cold here in Germany is the AP from plastic pipe and duct tape not good.
I want to use a few years. It should be as good as the original.

@ Henry: about contacts and experience with AP I am pleased.
Can you send me a PM or make a contact?

I had in the 80 years he an AP and ran really well. My old neighbor had a beatiful road also an AP and we had many good DX contacts.
For U.S., we had too little time Leistung.Ich knows we were the only in about 100 km radius had the AP. Was a good time.

Hello, Manfred.
Yes, I had an original AP once, however, I did not measure the thickness of the tubes on it.
As for the tape covered tubing, it does very well. So far it has worked for more than two years with no issues.

Manfred is this the photo document you are looking at?

If so, then I think I can answer your questions.

Hello,

the file does not look bad, but not original.
I do not understand how I, a pipe replacements in a hole of 12.5 mm, and then again in this tube can install a radiator with 12.5 mm? Both tubes with 12.5 mm in each other that does not work. There is something wrong. I have to look that I get with 12.5 mm pipe here in my place, then I will buy a larger tube for part 4 and build together.

I thank you for all the info regarding the AP, I'll get back when I'm progressed.

@ Henry:
I will write to the man in the Netherlands and if problems with the language, contact you again. I am using the English language the translator of Google, because my English is unfortunately no longer so good. My relatives in the States speak German and English, but when we talk or write together, then we'll do it in German. Too bad, vile years in school were in vain.

Manfred, forget about using the device noted in image #4. That is a special insulating device manufactured by Avanti that provides a secure connection to the coax center conductor. It uses a ring clip design inside, and with an isolator that insulates the coaxial feed point from the ground side of the antenna.

Homer, he is using the image for dimensions I sent you a long time ago. Maybe you can give him the specifics for how you fed you homemade AstroPlane. I think you made a connector using PVC.

With his language issue...it looks like he is having a problem. Maybe you could help him if you have some close up pictures, or you posted a thread about how you fed your homemade version of the A/P.

Yes Homer, that image of the pig tail connection using PVC should help Manfred reconnect his A/P nicely.
