Maybe I missed this but is the radio actually receiving. Does the meter move when there is a strong signal present? Many of these problems turn out to be a bad solder connection.
no it is beyond that no recieve at all i tried the keying up to see if it is recieving and nothing... scratching my head on this one but i am stubborn and yes i am familiar with cold solder joints i been thru it allMaybe I missed this but is the radio actually receiving. Does the meter move when there is a strong signal present? Many of these problems turn out to be a bad solder connection.
Can anyone confirm if my last to checks were ok on tr37 and 38 ??
yes in recieve i will check the txTr37 (2sc945) I'm guessing you took your voltage measurements in receive mode? You should read (Base .70v) (Collector .10v) (Emitter 0v) Let me know what voltages your getting in transmit mode on Tr37.
For Tr38 (2sa1232) in receive mode your voltage measurements look ok. Again, measure voltages in transmit mode as well and post. These transistors are receive and transmit voltages switches. That is why I'm asking for your transmit voltages on both transistors.
tr 37 has me stumped my readings in recieve are 0.1, 5.5, and 0.6 c has 5.5
cross off the 5.5 at the end i was thinking aheadI'm a little confused?? If YOUR readings on the collector are 0.6v as you posted above, where is the 5.5 coming from? Or do you mean it should be 0.6v on the collector and your reading 5.5v??
tr 37 i get on key up e.72 c8.5 and b0.0 --- 38--- i got 0.0e 9.03c and 9.1bOk, cool. Those readings are correct then. Post the voltages in TX mode when you get them.
Thanks !!!! Ive been looking for that I will post when i find the problem, I do think a misprint for tr 38 though i got the readings that are close but the part isnt what is posted the 2sa1232 is a much bigger transistorCheck your PM
just an update it was tr 36 i ordered parts back when i posted last and finally got thru the holdidays and had some time tr 36 i changed and my nightmare radio is working thanks so much everyone that posted and especially Unit 75 you guys are the greatest!!!!Tr36 must have 8v on the collector in receive mode and 0v in transmit mode.
Tr38 must have 0v on the collector in receive mode and 8v in transmit mode.
Please double check these and post back with your findings.
