Barrel Connector?

OK, I changed my setup around...and my RG8 from my antenna is about 6-inches too short to ideally mount my meter permanently inline. I'm running a 5-pill in this system.

I don't know coax or its connectors enough to know if a barrel connector is a proper/correct thing to do or if it is a considered a band aid that shouldn't be done. Should I just run another piece of coax, or could I safely/correctly get away with a barrel connector and a short piece of coax as an extension??

Thanks

It is better to have as few interruptions in the RF flow as possible. That being said, there is really nothing wrong with using a quality barrel connector to add another length of coax. If you can afford it, just buy enough coax to run all the way between your antenna and xmitter, and you can then use the short one to make jumpers with.

For all practical purposes, it amounts to which would be easiest for you. A barrel connector amounts to a 'pebble' in the road, not a 'speed bump'.

Thanks!

I picked up a barrel connector (amphenol I beleive) and had the local shop make me a 2-foot jumper out of RG8. I was able to mount my meter where I wanted, and everything looks and works fine.
