So my spring/summer plan is an antenna upgrade. Currently have a mono band Tram BF2M3 on 20 feet of mast pipe. Works well for MURS and 2m talking. I might be asking for a lot but I need something that can cover 2m, 70cm, MURS, and GMRS. I've been looking at the Diamond x300a and a Comet GP-6. I would love to get any input or suggestions from forum members. I'm hoping there is an option that will get that coverage and maintain a usable SWR.

Getting any antenna with any reasonable gain to cover UHF/ 40 Mc wide (430-470 MHz) is a tall order...Even 30MHz/ 440-470 MHz is going to be tough. GL... The only one other than a discone type (w/No Gain) would be a custom Log-Periodic antenna, but those are normally Horizontally polarized. (I.E. OTA TV)

If you want to try making one, I was thinking either a dual band j-pole or coupled radiator ground plane, both using copper pipe to lower the l/d ratio for increased bandwidth.

I have a Discone for the scanner but it can also be used to transmit. It is my highest antenna. Second down I have 2m/70cm vertical that is going to the FT-847. Don't know about the other bands but would put up at least two antennas if I was looking for that coverage.
