Base station antenna for FM scanner?

Does anybody do this? When I get around to picking up a Base Station antenna I would like to use my fm scanner on it as well. Not at the same time ofcourse. I would get a switch box or just switch between the two via the cable. I know getting a FM antenna seperate for the FM scanner would be ideal. But do to a limited amount of cash. I can only get one antenna / cable at this time.

thanks,

Josh

As for you scanner buffs. I picked up a vintage 1978 Regency Scanner Touch K500 with manual, and box for 6.00. Needs to be cleaned. But over all I'm very happy with the purchase.

J.P.,
I'm fairly sure that it's done quite often, shouldn't be all that much of a problem. Gets to be inconvenient, switching back and forth, but certainly do-able.
Theres no difference between an 'FM' antenna and an antenna for some other mode. There are differences between antennas made for different bands. That difference is in length, primarily. After that, it's more a matter of exactly what do you want to listen to, where is it, how high can you put an antenna, and how empty is your wallet, and do you drive a Ford or Chevy or wanna Dodge the whole thing?

currenty vehicle of all things is a grand prix

Current vehicle is a 99 4 door grand prix. I got that after my little 4 door suzuki sidekick finally wore out at about 260,000 miles. I was wishing for 300,000 but for a small 4 banger. Not that bad. Then the other vehicle my dad drives but I own is a 88 ford f150 (around town truck). Not to bash ford owners but when it runs it runs great. When it does not. It sucks and thus, I don't care for fords. More of GMC/Chevy guy or even some imports.

later,

Josh

What the bloody hell does that have to do with using a base antenna with a scanner?
