Iyour referring to the MFJ 915. I have one installed on my 2000 and it does exactly what it's advertisef too. And has solved my stray rf feedline problems.
I just couldn't deal with winding my own choke / ugly balun, because of the many different messurments i was getting. 4 turns, 8 turns. And so many different donut hole messurments, it was just easy to plop down the 30 something dollars. And be done with it. Of course it's cheaper to put your own together but for me it wasn't worth the time and I think I made a good choice. On of the WWDX members recommended it and I would do the same. QUOTE="loosecannon, post: 531335, member: 1368"]it should be pointed out here that the air core choke that is so popular is still inferior to using ferrite.
in fact, G3TXQ has come out against the misuse of this chart.
he only made it in an attempt to show how much better using ferrite was, and has asked that people stop using it to extol the virtues of the air core choke.
palomar engineering sells a kit available in two versions, one with snap on ferrite beads, and one with continuous beads.
i have one here that completely eliminated a common mode issue i was having.
they are about 30 bucks, and you dont have to try and source a large PVC pipe to wind the coax around.
its basically the same thing that MFJ sells, but you dont have to add the extra connectors into your system.
