what will be my best bet for a base antenna that will only be 10 feet off the ground? antron 99 or imax 2000? i was thinking maybe the antron due to the higher radiation angle???

CTE TOP ONE antenna. hands down.

when you are dealing with a base setup where the antenna will be less than 20 feet above ground; this antenna will outperform both the antron and the imax.

also, a lower angle of radiation is more desirable in most cases. just FYI.

the area i am putting the antenna in requires me to use a stick antenna.
(not enuff room for an astro plane) so even at a low height, the imax would be better? my initial thought was that because it will be so low, a higher radiation angle would get my signal up into the air better??? i thought an imax
being 5/8 might waste more signal into surrounding houses, buildings etc. etc.

I thought I gave an opinion, but I don't see that post. The way things have been going around here, that's probably my fault or this @#$ new computer's (I like that excuse).

What I thought I had posted was that I would tend toward the 'Imax'. I wouldn't worry much about the 'take off angle' between the two cuz at close distances (hundreds of yards, not feet) it would be basically the same for both, same effect to/from near by houses, etc.

At 10 ft off the ground the a99 will really cause problems with neighbors tv's if they are fairly close. If you decide to run any power with it like that, it'll probably come in on their kids braces too...LOL

the Sirio LW-150 sold @ H&Y Electronics for $139 Hands Done will SMOKE any Other Ground Plane Antenna Commercially Avaliable Today Buy it Put It up & Watch Em! All Buy 1 that Hear How Much More Audio You Have & Signal that you'll Have! :p:

i agree with 6mtrs, the lw150/sigma4 style antenna correctly tuned will beat any groundplane or endfed out there especially when both antennas are mounted near the ground, regular endfed verticals without radials and decoupling waste most of your radiation talking to the clouds, they should be re classified as 1/2nvis antennas,

my imax mounted low is piss poor compared to the i10k, the i10k is poor compared to the 5/8 over 1/4 wave sleeve sigma style antenna.
its a pity the sirio sold by hy are of such poor quality build,

on the upside its nice to see im not alone in realising the capabilities of the sigma style antenna, if you can squeeze an antenna 30" wide in there, it will by far outperform the a99/imax,

i would only use a a99/imax mounted low if there REALLY was no alternative, if that is the case you have my condolences.
