GUMBALL1...that's where the noise is coming from...the coax antenna...how many snap on RF chokes should i put on? any size or length would work? how close to antenna or radio? i also have a Wilson 2000 but i did not think the antenna would work well with the coil just above the top back of the cab w/fairing in front about 4' away...

I need to know what would be the beast antenna to use for under $30.00?I will have to use the factory coax so i don't think its any use in spending a lot of cash on something like a Monkey Made or a 10K(for now anyway)since i cant run an amp,as long as i cant get out a few miles i will be happy.I was thinking about a Skip Shooter or a Wilson Silver load both 7 foot antennas but wanted to know what your thoughts on this were.

Hello,

DOC's reply must have been lost during a "back-up" or something. Anyone recall his advice ?

I have a similar problem... after installing a new antenna and coax, one radio is still nice and quite. The "better" radio is producing a high level "whine" type noise. Only happens when the motor is running, and the noise IS coming from the alternator.

Wish my "better" radio was more like my wife. She can block out all kinds of things that I say to her. ;)
Thanks, jdgee
