Lesson learned


Painted my surplus piece of 1-1/2" wooden clothes hanger rod and slid it down into the mast and secured it with 3 stainless 1/4" lag bolts. Remounted the vertical. Slid the ground plane up.


What a difference!

I haven't gotten to tune it yet, I just left it where the setting was best last night.


It is now


1:1 @ 28.5

1.3:1 @ 27.9

2.5:1 @ 27.3


Once I slide it down to 27.9 I should get acceptable SWRs at either end


You can just see the step from the wooden part to the steel mast
