hotfire, you must have had the wrong 10K for your vehicle. Nothing beats a 10K but another 10K. Kale

hotfiredbirdy, Im also curious about what shaft you were useing, on the 10k....from the looks of those Coilys, they look to be around 27''. Dont know how, or where you had the 10k's mounted, but I have the 27'' shaft dual coil 10K, and it tunes flat on about half the channels on my Suburban, and Chevy Van. Sounds like you either had a short shaft 10K, or a bad meter!

Hum mm, I am running a 10-K/22"/single coil on the back of my Pick-up

600+ watts(AVG)forward, and the only way I can get the needle on reflect to move is if I slap the living tar out of the side of the meter.....

CCM,

Sounds right too me. I remember when Robert Piland did Field Strength tests of antennas back in 98 on the rec.radio.cb and Workman Antenna beat alot of the keydown antennas.

Lazy.....

No I got no digital camera, but I will try to describe it ...

On the right rear corner, inside the bed were the stake hole is there is a flat surface,(2001 ford ranger) I took a hvy duty mirror mount, and removed the four bolts, and the outside half of the bracket.

That leaves this..

____AA____

!

The four holes are were the << are, and the antenna mounts at AA

I set it so the bottom of the 10-K is almost level with the top of the bed rail, including a Hustler stainless steel quick disconnect, drilled four pilot holes in the side of the stake hole were the bolts would go in the bracket. I used a floppy wheel to remove the paint were the bracket bolts to the metal.

Used some dow-732 sealant to run a bead around the outside edge, Put a little dab in each hole, and screwed it down with 1/4" x 1-1/2" self drilling metal screws.

Cut just enough 1318FX coax to get from the amp to the antenna, put ends on it, screwed them on and sealed them with liquid electric tape.

Took a whole 20 to 25 Min to tune the antenna my bolt cutters make short work of ANY stinger, and it was off to the races.

Works great.
