i have tried to get this to work but with no change.the pill is mounted where the internal speaker used to be.if i lay the cover of the radio to the side and try it the radio works great.but when i put the radio cover back on it squeals on transmit and i here a chirping sound in my receive.i have taking the connex board out, ground everything i can ground and have tried to shield the inside of the radio so it would stop RF build up,nothing works!am i wasting my time with this or is there something i have missed?thanks and happy holidays<img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/posticon60.gif ALT=":60">

Not sure I understand the question. Did you try and change the final transistor to something like a MRF455?

I think it is a little 1 transistor Amp built on a small sheet of Alum stock. They go by Boomer 50/Palomar 50/Stinger board, They are kind of known for feeding RF back into the radio. They take the place of the speaker in the radio, and most likely have a 1446 or 455 in it. No rf bypassing, poor shielding Etc. I did see one some were that was enclosed in a little shielded case, you might try to make a cover for it that screws to the lid, and see if that helps.

Good luck,

73

Jeff

If you want to see 45-50 watts peak out of a Cobra 29, then send it to F.G. Best. They did mine and it works great. They do it without all the goofy stinger board stuff, too. They're also running a forum discount during the holiday season.
