Bridge 1500km with low data rate - where to look?

Dear everyone,

After a long delay, I'd start using amateur radios again, and I'd like to bridge a 1500km distance to my mates, across over Europe mainland. The idea is to use short data transmissions where a high error rate is tolerated by the receivers. I'd like to ask your advice on what frequency ranges/modulations might be taken into account, and in relation to that, what equipment and aerials do you suggest to use, please. I'm seeking here for guidance and this time, I start literally from scratch. Thank you in advance for your constructive comments, appreciated!

Kind Regards,
Peter
