I wonder if something sugar-free like coke zero would have had less ripple. Probably too many organics and side reactions anyhow, wouldn't last long before it all turned to tar inside. Electrolysis is sometimes used in organic chemistry, carboxylic acids being especially susceptible IIRC. Radical reactions and such.

I would have been far more interested in a demonstration using practical electrolytes alongside theirs, not just coke, but he was pretty quiet about what their electrolyte composition is made of.

Yikes! I have to admit I watched the whole thing! The AI translator needs to do a better job with pronunciation. Nippon Chemi-Con electrolytics are a premium brand made in Japan and I do stock many values in my kits.

That light blue sleeve cover is used by Vishay, a premium electrolytic capacitor maker. I asked ChatGPT of any affiliations and it responded with;
