Burt was one of those guys you had to try really hard not to like. He was a good friend to any who met him. I knew Burt for about 20 years and last spoke with him on May 15/10 at the Downeast Ham Fleamarket in Halifax. He had been diagnosed with cancer a short time ago. Burt was a photo tech in the Canadian airforce and did tours in Germany, Bosnia, and the Golan Heights. While overseas he was a prime operator for CFARS (our version of MARS) helping to keep servicemen in touch with back home. Even after he was medically discharged from the airforce he was still very active in CFARS as well as being the local amateur radio rep with the Red Cross along with his wife Phyliss, VA1PR. His service was yesterday at 14 Wing Greenwood. He will be missed by many.

RIP Burt.
