Been wanting a General Lee or similar for my pickup since I sold my Omega Force. I needed the front face mic and wanted the built in echo, medium power and extra channels.

Up until very recently you couldn't get one for under about $170

Just won one with diamond plate covers and a chrome Road King 56 mic for $129

Unbelievable (y)

Hey Tony,

Yes the GL has at least some of 10 on it. Not sure if it goes all the way to 29.7 or not. Maybe it does new from the box. When the mod is done, the frequency range drops down. It might then top out at 28.775 like my Galaxy 94HP does.

The Lee's do 45-50 watts and are AM/FM only. They are pretty much the current top choice amongst truckers these days. Other equivalents are the Connex 3300HP and the Magnum S3

Tanks Weasel.....:D

I wouldn't mind finding something that can get me on a few 10 meter repeaters, but it would have to be able to do splits. My Kwood only does SSB, no AM, FM, CTCSS, and it's not set up to do Frequency splits for repeater operations....

The Magnum OmegaForce does the splits. It is AM, FM, SSB and goes all the way up to 29.999mhz. The really nice thing about this radio - among other things - is that Hams QSO'ing w/me think I am using a modified Ham rig on 38 LSB.

WW ("He is the most interesting man in the world..."): what didn't you like about the OF that you recently had?
Just curious...

I guess I will have to hang on to my stock Ranger AR-3500's unless I can get at least $230 for the 35 watt version if it is a soft market right now. You might like the AR-3500 MIG; as it doesn't have a channel display. It only has a freq display and does 10-11-12 meters w/o modifications. SSB is sublime; so is the FM...AM is phenominal...

Then what ya want for a modern full-feature radio is the one I just got rid of, the Magnum Omega Force S45. All mode, full frequency coverage and repeater offsets. Only $250 new. Mine was doing 60 watts on FM and 50 on AM & SSB
