Anyone ever met celebrities?

I have met David Brenner, Oprah, Brooke Shields and her Mom, The band Yes, and Stevie Nicks. I actually bought Stevie a beer and talked to her for a few minutes when I met her. She is really nice and unassuming.

I got to "form-fit" a pilots helmet for Willem Dafoe (1986 Best film 'Platoon' fame) back around 1989 when he was filming the movie 'Flight of the Intruder'. We had to do it twice, and it took almost an hour to do both pours. He was gracious, but having a bad day. He was okay with us though. Also met briefly a few more characters in that movie who would dress out in pilots equipment in our shop. Brad Johnson was the star of this flick (well the film was to make him a star). He went on to film 'Always' with Ron Howard directing. Not sure what happned to him. Also, the balding actor on LA Law (then), who is now the balding actor on Law and Order, SVU. Don't recall his name.

Rode an plane with Lionel Ritchie as we boarded about the same time. Brief encounter as we looked at each other, it was obvious I must have reacted when I recognized him as he smiled and said hello. Seemed sincere enough. I was grateful, I've been laid to much of his music (chicks dig it haha!).

Met a few musicians when they came to visit us in the desert or other USO shows, mainly the fat vocalist from the Blues Travelers, and some redneck band named Trick Pony. They really were sincere and took lots of time after the show for autographs, photos and general BS'ing.

Most would never remember me, although Willem Dafoe I doubt will forget that experience of the contraption we strapped to his head and the hour we made him wait through as the foam cured. Although his flying scenes were all Hollywood induced, he did go through Aviation Physiology so he could actually fly in an A-6 Intruder. Hence we were making him a real working flight helmet. Have no fear taxpayers, Paramount pictures forked the bill to the Governemnt for all expenses.

Newt Gingrich, Sen. Fred Thompson ( actor-Hunt for Red October), Rep. Todd Tiahrt (my cousin"s husband). I was in a band that opened for The Kendalls at a local show. Singers, I have met Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Paul Overstreet, And spent some time talking with Don Williams. For anyone that listens to Southern Gospel I have had Gold City in my home. I met JD Sumner who sang with Elvis. I got to chat with him for a while. I got to spend some time with Don Bebe. He was a football player for Buffalo and Green Bay. While living in Colorado I was partnered in golf with Ben Hogan's caddy. He was pretty neat. A great golfer and got to hear some stories of the old champ. Any bow hunters out there ? Got to meet Dan and Guy Fitzgerald and spent an evening with them and my sons talking and telling stories.

As I child, growing up in Massachusetts. I would spend the Summer at Camp on Marthas Vinyard. One year back in the 70's,( I was around ten) they were filming the movie "Jaws" on South Beach. The Film Crew came over and asked us if we minded being extras. I got to be a extra, as a child running from the water after the shark attack. I still remember as if it yesterday. I love to watch that movie and see a young me running out of the water from the shark. Great times

Lessee.......................Met (but don't remember because I was only 4) Roy Rogers & Dale Evans. Briefly met Andy Griffith since I lived in his home town (1962), Jimmy Stewart (all time favorite) and got his autograph. And went to high school with Jim "Catfish" Hunter, pitcher for the NY Yankees (his wife, Helen, was in my senior class). Tha's about it!

Wow CW this is weird. A freind of our family that worked with my dad went to school with Catfish Hunter ! Do you remember a Kenny Mobley ?

Doesn't ring a bell. Tell me a "Class of........................" so I can look in my annual. Helen signed my annual "Helen Overton Hunter". She was a cheerleader and Jimmy was a Senior when I was a Sophomore. The annual was called the "PerCoHi Tattler"---wierd name, huh? Funny how nicknames stick! When Jim was playing high school ball, we knew him more as "Jimmy" than "Catfish". I mean, the name was there, it just wasn't as important.....until he went professional and the name STUCK!

By the way, for those who remember Wolfman Jack, we kids living in the Elizabeth City/Hertford, NC area used to ride around on Saturday night (when I was lucky enough to get Dad's Ford Galaxy) and listen to his syndicated radio show (he was featured/represented in "American Graffittion the old AM radio.
Selective fading and all! We didn't HAVE FM stereo back then. :
What we didn't KNOW was, he married a girl in a tiny burg about
6 miles from our high school named Belvidere, NC!!! He lived at Belvidere/Winfall, NC until he died a few years ago!! Now if you could SEE that area (it has grown a lot in these last 40 years)it was a desolate little coastal town where NOTHING ever happened (and the people talked funny, too --at least to this mountain boy!) And here is this famous DJ living in MY area and sending his program down to Mexico and/or into California, etc. I thought, like, WOW!!!If we had known he was there, we'd have killed to have met the Wolfman!! But, no, we didn't know, so I never got to meet him !

BTW, I knew I left somebody out! The Beach Boys! Al Jardin, etc! I have a SIGNED beach ball!!!! And if you can, again, think of us kids of the mid-60's cruising our boulevard to the Circle Drive-in a '56 Crown Vic listening to "Ba-Ba-Ba-Bar-Bar-bar Barbara Ann", then getting to actually MEET and talk to these guys......well, shut up CW Morse! Quit reminiscing!

Sandra Bullock and Dennis Leary when they were filming the movie Two If By Sea in Windsor, Nova Scotia a couple miles from here. The scene where they are on the train with the police cars chasing alongside was filmed on the causeway in Windsor.Beau Bridges when he was in Windsor (again) filming Songs in Ordinary Time. I missed Sissy Spacek. Actually there have been a lot of scenes in some Hollywood movies filmed in and around the Windsor/Hantsport Nova Scotia area.In the above movie, Sissy Spacek worked in the old textile mill that has since closed down and one of the old cars used in the movie belonged to my uncle.I bumped into Harrison Ford in a bar in Halifax a few years ago when he was filming K19-The Widowmaker.

Although I never really met them,security was faaaaar to tight for that, I was very close to the world leaders of the G7 summit when Halifax hosted it in 1995. The leaders of the member nations of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain, USA, and as a guest Russia, were all within a couple dozen feet as the motorcade delivered them to a meeting place I was at.

That would be VERY close to the right age. I moved there in August, '63. I betcha he was in the class of '64 or '65. I didn't know THAT many people who were ahead of us--as high schoolers tend to stay with their own age group. I met Jim because I worked in the school office some and also at some of the HS games. Then because of Helen being in my own class.

in earlier my band made it on 92.7

yes i have met many celebrities

but anyone living or working in mahatten and wealthy LI cummunities have met more then their share of celebities either shopping or the beach etc

they are often simple people (almost simple)

A friend of mine that I used to work with worked summers at his uncles' service station in Cape Breton. One day Wilf ran out to the pumps and filled the tank of Bond, James Bond.It seems Roger Moore owns property in the Highlands up there and was on a quiet vacation.No he was not driving an Aston Martin at the time.

I refinished hardwood floors for twenty six years and had the opportunity to meet and refinish the floors for Paul Newman who owns a summer cottage in Portsmouth, RI. Also, Anthony Hopkins(Zorba the Greek) and Kevin Cosner(Water World, Dances with Wolves) both own summer places in Bristol, RI.
