Here is a short clip of my favorite band, the Battlefield Band from Scotland. I just saw them live in October, and have 6 of their CD's.

About two minutes into the clip, the guy playing the tin whistle switches to bagpipes and he is amazing! He also stomps his feet for an additional backbeat that goes with the guitar and piano rythms.

The whole thing becomes a wall of sound, the harmonics between the fiddle and pipes sounds like 20 people playing at the same time.

They are amazing musicians.

There is a great show on many NPR stations called "The Thistle and Shamrock" that airs weekly. Lots of great Irish and Scottish music.

I don't care for the "New Age" type of stuff like that "Celtic Woman" stuff you see on TV. That's not really authentic. "Scarborough Fair" is a great song, but it ain't celtic!

That was EXCELLENT,i truly enjoyed it :)

I dont hear many celtic pieces so many thats why it was so enjoyable :)

Have you tried the "Red hot Chili Pipers"? They are a Bag rock band that I first heard of during the Olympics. Not to be confused with the "Red Hot Chili Peppers". Three bag pipers and a Rock band!!!

Not into folk music......don't care for the bagpipes......the sound reminds me of pigs being slaughtered.....eeeeeeeeeeeeee. ha ha :D
