A while back i began my quest in modifying a radio for home use as an on going project. It's a cobra 29lx with rfx75 i installed. I've also done every mod i could find. I'm sure any one reading this has seen my post before about this radio. I consider it pretty good with. It's doing 20/ 80 give or take.
I've seen all kinds of crap about clipping parts and soldering jumpers and thus didn't seem good to me. Then it occurred that this limiter diode was a4148 common switching diode, which has a considerable high voltage drop. I've got a collection of old germanium diode including some Russian detector diodes. Would subbing the ge diode be an alternate way of doing this mod without clipping it since its lower threshold?
