i have like 3 d104 stands in my collection.....2 sound more bassy than the rest ....i get on the air reports from the better half all the time ...she says my main mic sounds the best and the others are kinda bassy.
all of them have good heads that work fine i dont know why some would be more bassy than the others??is there a way to change the tone??make it more clear/shrill?like adding something to the amp?changing a part value?if theres a way post it or pm me the info ...thanks.

im NOT sure about the Tug-9s Joe , but I know a lot of the 8s have a resistor in line with the audio line on the bottom tracks , kind of nice where SSB can be an issue , if your bassy and that resistor is inline you might try taking it out and see if that don't even things out for you ?(or change the value) I've known a few guys that would be tinty over the years with there lolly pops and a good golf sock or sock over the head would work in many cases very nicely ,(you can just fold socks to the desired thinkness) also can help with back ground modulation in some cases. Good luck to you dude. Peace

also on some of the crystal cartridges theres 250 PF Cap that you can clip and it will also make a differance if need be.

i found a 3300 ohm resistor on the audio lead on 1 of the mic stands .i took that out and i am much happier with it now ...also where would this cap be?i realize it would be on the amp board but whereabout??thanks switch......

wow hamer you ressurected a 2 year old post .
anyway i found a solution to my problems .i just add a d104 keyup birdie to each d104 and they sound great after that .the birdie must change the impedence somehow and make the mic useable for me .its just my radio.on any other radios they sound great.just this 2517 is finicky.all d04`s sound bassy until i add the birdie then it clears right up .thanks for thinking of me ...
happy holidays
