how is the display color changed? a shop near me can change the display from the standard red or green to blue or a bright green and the meter is blue or green as well when they are done. they charge $40 to do this so i am wondering what other colors can be done and how hard it is to do such work.

so if i got the right size leds i could change them out myself? if so i will go to rat shack and pick a few up.

YEP you can as long as you can solder and have the right bulbs. At least thats how they did mine. If you have never done anything like this i would leave it to someone that know's what they are doing.

i can solder i just go slow. there seems to be a red film over the channel display.... can i get another film color od just leave the red there?

As far as i know leave it there i did not have the color changed on mine just the bulbs. look on utube there was some vid's on doing this that might help you more than i can.

i tried you tube earlier but i just don't know the right tags i guess and i had very limited results that were of little help. most was just showing off there radios after the work was done. lol

Good question! I too have wondered if to change the channel LED color if all you need to do is replace the plastic lens over the LED's or if you have to change out the whole channel LED display.

I would think you could just change out the plastic lens but....?

And yes the meter bulb is a matter of unsoldering/soldering on a new bulb. Really easy to do. I just did one on my Connex this week.
