All,

I've been talking with the distributor for the forum store about what type of ham stuff they have. I previously thought that they only had CB equipment.

What I've discovered is that they have quite a bit of cheap ham stuff - 2 meter, 440, 220, 6m antennas (mag mount, whip style, through the glass, fiberglass base, rubby ducky bnc, NMO mounts, etc.), HF hamstick style whips, even some of the Hustler products like the Hustler vertical base tripod. I also found some inexpesive swr/power meters for vhf/uhf & HF.

Keep an eye on the store for these products as I confirm pricing and have time to do the data entry. I've already put a few products in there. Hopefully this will be a good source for us all to find stuff at reasonable prices :) :)

Hey Mole....

Do they carry any cheap 11 meter ground plane antennas that can be used for 10 meters....

I'm still not sure about the A-99, or that Workman fiberglass pole. At least with the A-99 you can get a ground plane kit for it fairly cheap.

Whatever I end up getting will be going up at least 10 Ft. off the ground on a pipe, so a counter poise radial kit is pretty much a must have.......

I put the groundplane kit in there earlier today...it's the same kit for the a99 & the bandit (same thing). They also have the longer one for the 5/8 wave antennas like the imax 2K that I put in there.

I also look to see what else they have...I'm still searching through all the documentation I JUST got from them.

Thanks Mole....

I see you have the Maco V 5/8 listed, but I also heard that company went out of business, the those antennas are becoming scares.......

I found another Shakespeare Big Stick to try out here, I'll get my hands on it later in the week, if that doesn't pan out I gotta get something that will get me full power on 10 meters before the summer rolls in, and the band has more openings.......

There was some talk of Maco going out of business a year or so ago but I think someone bought the company and is still making antennas. If I remember correctly the A99 is preferred by hams on a lot of sites over the Imax 200 and I think it was because it was easier to tune on more bands and its cheap. I haven't tried to use my ham rig and tuner on my Imax but it gets good range on CB sideband- made contacts at close to 50 miles when there is no skip to another base station, and the radio is not an export or peaked and tuned, no amp- so I am happy with the antenna on CB but it may be at a disadvantage on the ham HF bands
