Some of their items are cheaper than other places. Bought my antenna switch from them, If you shop online, I compare just the same . . .

I remember when they first entered the scene. They were sole distributor for PARR antennas. I bought a lot of stuff and always thought they had the best deals. Maybe they have more overhead now. I think their shipping is high as well. lately, I've been getting good deals from the Antenna Farm. I just don't care for how they drop ship many of their items.

You have got the wrong idea about their name. There are not called cheap ham because they have cheap prices. They are called that because they ARE cheap hams and want the most they can get out of something. LOL

Ahh they are as good as any, the problem is there are no more local shops anymore. I used to have three ham stores within a 30 minute drive, now the closest place is AES an hour and half away.

My closest ham shop is just a mouse click away. Other than that it is in Toronto Ontario or Salem New Hampshire. I am in Nova Scotia which pretty much rules out driving there for a package of PL-259's.
When I was in Ontario, I normally drove past the Toronto one to go to the Oshawa store. (Better showroom) :) Now, there is 2 within a 10 minute drive from work. :D but nothing I want or "need" :(

I'm about 30 minutes away from Universal. They usually have what I need, but I buy big ticket items from HRO and elsewhere since I save on tax and usually get free shipping on anything over $100. R&L Electronics is little over 2 hour drive, but I've only driven there once.

Oshawa? You mean Durham radio in Whitby? Been to both. Radio World is bigger with more stuff but Durham is a little more friendly.

radio world are not really "new ham friendly". There was 3 of us each with a pocket full of cash. Walk into Radio World and within 5 minutes we were headed to Whitby.
BTW, Whitby, Oshawa they are all pretty well connected now.
