I justed wanted to tell everyone about a little test I've completed.First off my mobile setup is a rci 2950 with a road king 56 a home built 4 pill(2879's)and a 102 inch steel whip. For the longest time i have wondered if instead of using the small elkin mini 8 coax, if changed to the larger elkin rg853 coax would i gain or loose any performance.Well i tried it and boy what a change! I have a friend that lives 20 miles from me and i talked to him for over 2 hours on the mini8 then changed to the rg853 coax.It showed, on his meter's a gain of 3 db's with nothing other than changing the coax! And he also said that i was louder and cleaner than before. This test was performed over 3 days and at different times of the day with the same results. Both coax's i used had been checked by my tech to make sure they were not bad even though they were both new. This may not be a big deal to some of you who have been into cb's or ham for a long time but i was just floored by it! I still find it hard to believe that a simple change like this could result in such a dramatic change like that.I posted this because i thought that anyone that may be thinking of doing this would want to know that for me at least,it work's! <img src=http://home.comcast.net/~shockwav/happy_new_year.gif ALT=":nyr">
