I just got one Sat and it seems to work slick. Are there any cool mods that can be done such as extra final (it has a slot for another final!) channels clarifier mods ect ect?? Everyone says it sounds really sweet on AM!
That radio was sold for just a short time. The big feature was the faceplate backlighting. It's pretty much there version of a Cobra 148 & Uniden Grant xl.
They pretty much are what they are and work as they were intended. Zman I love ya dude but WOW, you really feel the need to stick a dual final in everything don't ya. Why not let the radio be what it is and just give it a correct peak and tune?
If you really need MOPOWA get yourself a nice little 2 pill and be done. Just saying.

I like all your posts Zman, just saying it's not necessary to add a second final or do a mosfet mod to every radio. Now if you have one with a blown final or your a driver who can only run a legal cb radio in his company truck then BINGO, perfect example for higher power mods.
Did i say every radio???? NO! I just would like to add a final to this one.. I guess if nobody wants to offer any help ill take it to my tech who i know will do it...
If your tech is a good honest guy this is what he will say. Radio's like a Uniden Washington, Madison, Grant xl, Cobra 2000, and Cobra 148 were some of the best old school radio's ever made. Very stable on SSB and some of the best sounding quality audio there is.
They are also all very much low powered radio's, my Madison does 15 watts peak on AM and 18 on SSB. They were never intended to be a 40 watt radio. They also don't peak up or respond to high power mods like a Cobra 29 does.
Since your Cherokee 150 is built on the same, or close to the same chasis as all the above radio's it would stand to reason that exotic power mods will not work well. Give the guy a holler though and see what he thinks.
There are plenty of so called cb shops that would be happy to do 90 dollars of mods to your 30 dollar radio I am sure.
My 150 is based on the 3600 board the same board in the fucking Galaxy 959! So i know damn well it CAN be modded with another final. I look at it this way man, these are my own fucking radios so i will do what i want with them. if i want a dual final radio ill either mod it or send it to get it modded. I like my radios loud and strong.. I dont know why some of you are so anti modding of radios..... I mod EVERY radio i own to be loud as fuck!!!!!!!!
Lets take a break here Mr Z and chill out just a little bit, you are starting to get a little overboard.....
You don`t have to get so wound up about it.
Might want to step away from the key-board and have a beer or a prozac or something.
I was look'n your way Evan...was working on some lighting in the garage...you were just "Thr" but w/ fade...you were gone...so did not fire the heater and call
