Not bad..

They Do Not as Yet have the Technology.
To Compete on a Ship to Ship Ability..

Let alone they would need many More of them.

However...
That Said....

This Indeed can Lead to the NEW Cold War !!

All depends when all is said and done...
What positions Politically China Not only Speaks Of..
But Intends to take Action Upon..

No...

The One you are referring to..
Is one china Bought Already Semi Built.
Then just finished the last 30% or so of the Build..

China has 2 or 3 of their Own Built From scatch units on the Drawing board...But Not yet in Build Stage..

In Part they are using the one they bought and re finishing...
As a Test Bed and Trial Unit...
To Which they will in part plan the builds of the ones they make completely

A aircraft carrier means only one thing. To take air strike capability all over the globe. There would have to be a battle group that accompanies this. Subs, ageis class cruisers, destroyers, fuel tender, etc.

Perhaps they are more concerned in building a robust economy at home than being bent on world domination.

You say that as if they haven't already. I don't know where you get your stuff in Canada but, if I were to go home today and throw away everything with a "made in China" or other asian country label on it there would be nothing left except my dogs and a bag of potatos.

No lie...Wal-Mart is selling sleeves of garlic in the produce section that are labeled "grown in China". WTF is that all about?!?!?! Now we have to import freaking garlic from China?!?!? Bad enough most of our produce this time of year is from Mexico and South America.

China is already buying up US based technology companies. The ones that supply our military. So, if they keep buying up these financially troubled companies they will own our current military technology. Who's your daddy then? Do you think our president will stop these sales? NOT! :censored:

I'd still have:
- all my cars
- all my tools
- all my guns
- all my furniture

In fact I'd pretty much have everything except maybe electronics and sundries.

I was making a sarcastic comment about the state of the economy which is booming in China while in the tank here in N.A. All this while the USA is still slogging billions and billions into into military action for no real purpose than to gain a stronghold in some God forsaken piece of foreign realestate. If the powers that be were more concerned with jobs and the economy than they were with waging a war against a rag tag bunch of towelheads things would undoubtedly be better.

i am sure you are all aware

what allows chinese products into our country is the removal of tariffs on the chinese products via the most favored nation (MFN) status assigned to china.

google most favored nation to understand that.

the reason that china is maintained on the MFN status is the belief that
"China would retaliate against imports from the United States (by increasing its tariffs to non-MFN levels, or taking other import-restrictive measures), the annual loss of U.S. exports to China could be significant, most likely affecting U.S. exports of grain, power generating machinery, aircraft, and fertilizer products." Losses to our economy would be substantial in these areas.

Some history and facts in here-but long read.
92094: Most-Favored-Nation Status of the People's Republic of China

Hope this helps understand things a bit.
