It seems that Chong has reached the ranks of "Amatuer Class Radio Operator" He has a couple of radios to use but he doesn't have the Programming Software to program the radios. I have tried to find this Software with no luck. I see he has them for sale here on the Forum. 2 meter or Dual Band radios are cheap and could be had for under $100.00 but, for a young guy, it's hard to raise that sort of money. I am proposing taking up a collection for him, so that we may purchase a decent 2 meter or Dual Band radio and Base antenna for him. I will be the first to donate money towards this worthy cause. I will donate the first $10.00 and possibly a 2 meter 4 Element Beam depending on how this goes.

I wish I had someone willing to help when I was starting out. We took up a collection for an amp for someone overseas, now let's get together to help out someone here in our own country.

No problem man, welcome aboard. I just wish that someone would pitch in and help you out. Come on everyone. $5.00 a piece. What will it hurt. I lose more than that in change in my couch. Let's help fellow forum members out.

FYI:
We made a post Posted: Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:44 pm an incentive to get his license by the Dayton Ohio hamfest in which he said he was 100% ready and willing.

For reasons unknown he could not make Dayton in May, so we extended to the end of the month of May. Unfortunately we never heard from him for the longest time, as he rarely visited the forum.

As to be fair to all that donated a refund was sent out and all had there money back.

We did collect over 150 dollars.

Chong did return to the forum in August without passing his test.

I will post another request for him as a celebration of his license again since he is only 13 or 14 years old and at that age its hard to get cash.
