CME Coming

I've moved around a bit and am now with antenna restrictions, that's why I've been off the board more so...but I do have a wire dipole I could string up on the fly. I don't hear Roy anymore though, but actually heard 40 mobile on the stooper bowl this last Sunday...

Oh, Roy is still out there. Talked to him on ch 17 just a few days ago. Do you have a SSB radio? There is a regular group of out here on SSB. Unless you use 10m too; pick a freq and I'll go there.

I feel safe. Will be sleeping in my tin foil tent tonight.

And yes my tin foil tent is grounded.

And yes my tin foil tent is properly grounded.

And YES my tin foil tent is properly grounded per NEC

And YES my tin foil tent is properly grounded per the newest NEC and not the stoopid older NEC

Hello aurora, goodbye HF propagation. What a time to have my 2m SSB and 6m gear out of commission. :headbang Oh well with the current cycle it looks as if i will have plenty of time over the next couple years to enjoy some good VHF openings when HF goes dead.

Not necessarily, I'm sure you're aware that 10/11M will propagate via aurora.Probably 12M too but I've never experienced it

The higher the frequency the better and since I do not do 11m I suppose I should have said "Good bye 98% of HF". As for "normal" DX on HF .....forget it. I have been on HF when the effects of a CME have swept past the planet and it is eerie. Signals that are 20 or 30 over nine drop out in a matter of less than a minute and all the bands get real quiet except for the rare weak signal that is normally a blockbuster.

I heard a guy on our local repeater saying he was wrapping all of his radios in foil.

Dude drives and old GMC van with a bunch of antennas. Magnetic door signs that read: "Emergency Radio Communications" adorn both front doors.

Is it really going to be that bad?
