I'm still in the slow process of setting up my shack at our new home. I have a dipole up temporarily while I decide on the final routing of coax cables and entry point to the house. Right now my coax is entering through a rear wall facing the back yard where the old Satellite dish cable came in, with a barrel connector to disconnect if a storm comes through,

What I want to do is bring two runs of Davis Bury-Flex out near the dryer vent through two heavy duty stainless steel marine bulkhead cable fittings and into the ground. Run the coax underground about 55 feet to a 4x4x8 post with a weatherproof utility box mounted on it and an Ameritron RCS4 remote coax switch above that on the same post. In the box I'll have two Alpha Delta ATT3G50UHP surge suppressors connected to a copper grounding bar attached to an 8' ground rod. I can easily disconnect antennas at the switch and move about 10 feet away to another waterproof box to keep the PL-259's dry.

Some questions I have are; do I really need to tie the ground rod from my remote post into my house mains ground? Would I be better off having the suppressors mounted at the entry point to the house, the ground tied into the mains ground and the remote antenna switch in the yard? I should add I have no plans for a tower, only wire antennas and possibly a lightweight Moxon all to be switched with the RCS4. I can add whatever length of coax needed from the RCS4 to whatever antenna I want to put up.

ALL grounds should be tied to one common point

IMO, yes

CK finished his install and has an in depth explanation and examples with pics of how he installed his.

Maybe a search of the forums will dig this thread up and help with some ideas.
