right you are Grandpa........

most television and entertainment electronics built since 1974 has no high-pass filtering in the receivers' front-end to eliminate harmonics generated by transmitters operating in the hf band. most equipment built since this time is especially subject to harmonic interference and brute-force overload by nearby transmitters operating at the offending frequencies.

remember 1974? gas crunch, no fcc funding for part 95 enforcement and retail prices for entertainment electronics were on the rise. plastic is a petroleum by-product. you can figure out the rest.

between the 213, the 9913 and the LMR-400 the 9913 and the 400 have the least amount of loss.

One clarification so people don't mis-interpret:

A poor match at the feedpoint causing RF to travel back down the coax (we measure this as SWR) does not cause RFI/TVI. The RF coming back down the coax from a mismatch travels on the center conducter, NOT the shield. Thus it is shielded by the coax in the same manner that the RF that makes it out the antenna is. Feedline radiation is caused by a number of things, but high SWR is not one of them.

Grandpa was referring to common mode current on the shield, but not as a result of high SWR. (I know he didn't say that, but just so there's no misunderstanding)
