He is from Costa Rica , I grabbed that screen shot off facebook as I have never seen that before.
Sure looks like a super cool mod.

If you like that check out the DDS VFO mods Troy Radio Service is doing along with the HF receiver option. Cool stuff and he's releasing something new in a couple of days.
There is a guy named Ray from Australia that has a page on Facebook called Razor Radios that does very similar mods to what he did to that 138XLR. I always enjoyed seeing what he was up to. I dumped Facebook about a month ago though, so no joy now.. 
I did find this radio with a similar mod installed. I believe it may have been done by, or at least the parts may have come from Troy. Works quite well!
He posts stuff to YouTube as well.
