I have a 148 GTL (philippines 1992 model with side mic connector). recently took it out of storage after many years to find that I can throw a carrier, receive just fine but there's no modulation. I checked out the mic and it is fine. This problem happens on AM and SSB. Tried out the PA function and no audio there either. I heard it might be the audio IC. If it is I'd appreciate if someone can give me the item number so I can order it. Any help would be appreciated.

The number on this audio chip is TA7222AP but let the radio sit with the volume off but radio for an hour or two. This will give a un-formed capacitor a chance to rejuvenate. If you can slowly bring the voltage up from zero, this would be better.
