I know you won't see this for a bit but...
I'm not a fan of wires hanging out of the radio during final tuneup.
Loading the oscillator and or mixer/buffer is way to easy to accomplish.
With a known good receiver into headphones, put a 1000Hz tone into USB or LSB into the radio under ttest and count up or down accordingly. I wouldn't trust a probe to NOT load the circuit. For AM, fsckit, get close
