I am looking for assistance with the following issue:
I have a Cobra 148GTL (Made in Malaysia) with not modification.
When I turn on the radio, nothing is heard through the speaker, audio sometime comes after 15-20 minutes of turning on the radio, but not always.
I can hear audio if I connect a speaker/earphones on the back of the radio.
I visually check the internal speaker connection and I don't see anything wrong
Also, I connected a different speaker, replacing the internal, but I got the same result.

Thank you for any assistance or advice with this matter.

You didn't say if this is the 5-pin Malaysia radio with the mike socket on the side or if it's the later front-panel mike socket with only 4 pins.

The switch inside the mike completes the ground side of the speaker circuit. A problem with that wire in the mike, the mike switch, cord or plug can interrupt receiver audio.

If you have a working spare mike, this is the first thing to try.

And if you have another radio you can plug this mike into, that would serve to find out if the mike is part of the problem.
