no, thats what sucks about it. its only for recieving and making calls in a limited manner speaker style, most folks will just buy a bluetooth headset. does more anyway and you dont have to hit pTT... this BT 29 is a waste of effort. I have been making blue tooth vox activated radios for three years now in my basement. if thats what you want custom modded radios are the only way to do it.

PTT is not used in cell phone communications. it is basically a glorified speaker phone of you speaking directly into the mic and hearing the other party via the speaker which has a considerably more amount of output wattage than your phone speaker. very good device for what it was designed to do

since you can use the direct connect via any bluetooth earpice i am sure you can use direct connect thru this radio also. dont know what state you are in, but direct connect (earpiece or not) is the same as talking on a radio (microphone in hand), except you'd have to key the nextel and hold the cb mic to speak into. doesnt sound like that would be easier
