Hello all, my first post here.
I recently picked up a used cobra 29 LTD Classic radio. I was told it has a private channel installed? The seller doesn't know much about the radio. It was his father inlaws unit (passed away). When I take off the lid to look around what should I look for to see if it has been tweaked beyond the private channel. I would imagine I should be able to spot something that doesn't look factory.
Also does anyone know if a unit built in 1989 in the philippines came with gold trim or was that added on?

thanks for the assistance.

Most shops will look at your radio for nothing , they will then tell you what's going on. "They" say Phillipines models are good , as far as 1 extra channel goes ? there might be a Expo type board in there ? it would be a seperate board by itself , I doubt you would miss it , but those boards give more like 80 extra channels (-: ......the other thing could be a 10Khz jump on one of the switches on the radio or one that might look out of place on the sides or back side of the radio ? that would give you in between channels which would add up to about 7 in all accross the 40 channels the radio already has.

I am also guesing that it has the 10kc channels or A channels added. You might have to get a freq counter and start playing with it to see whats up.
