The Cobra 29 LX new radio won here in this year's WWRF Father's Day Drawing arrived today, has been checked out, peaked and tweaked, operated and is running in my garage shop now.
I will go through my review of the operation and features but will link to another site for numerous pictures. Saves me a lot of time.

Cobra 29 LX LE CB Radio Review
The above pic review is of the LX LE model. Mine won here is the exact same just without the 50th Anniversary Edition labeling.
The big difference and departure from other 29 models and most modern CB's is the completely redesigned front display. The display is all digital / LCD and many new features and functions have been incorporated.
The boldest features is that you can select between 4 different whole-display colors. Amber, Green, Red and Blue. So far the green seems to stand out the most but they all are good. Display lighting can be dimmed in 1 step, Bright or Soft.
The main control knob operates a Menu system whereby you can select and set from nearly a dozen features.
One of these is a clock function including usage as an alarm clock. Only limitation here is no battery backup. Radio must be connected to 12V continuously to keep the time active. Fine for vehicle usage where you have the radio's power line permanently connected to battery voltage but for base use on a power supply - kill the power and you lose the time.
Radio has all 10 NOAA Weather channels which receive fine on a 11 meter antenna. I can clearly pick up 5 different channels from my location. WX accessed by front face push button.
Very effective Noise Blanker and ANL. SWR calibrate and read controls. Instant 9/19 access on another button.
Variable talkback included on from knob w/ SWR calibrate dual control.
I think the this radio is talking and receiving better than other modern 29's I've played with. Receive is much cleaner and clearer than an old school 25 that I have been using in the shop.
Was dead on 4 watts with swing to 8 and loud modulation even on stock mic from the box. VR4 for modulation was only turned up about half way so it is maxxed and a tune of the coil adjusting output power now has a dead key of 4.75 watts swing to 11 and the modulation grew louder with maxing VR4. Is easily pegging the mod meter on the Dosy 4002.
Locals say it is loud and clear so it's good to go.
Radio is a good performer and very good looking. I don't see why anyone would not pick this radio over a regular current 29 if they were going out for a new one especially seeing as they retail for around the same or the same price.
My gratitude again to the forum for offering this prize for the Father's Day Giveaway !
