I'm new to the hobby of working on my own radio's so please forgive me if my questions are ignorant. I installed a roger beep and trb-3 echo on my 29 and I have the same on the way that I plan to install on my 25. I ordered some push button on/off switches that I'd like to install to turn it off when I choose to. I'd like to know where the suggested interruption point should be. I'm thinking the red power wire but I Don't want anything to interfere with the echo. I believe the ground or the power should disable it and shouldn't affect the echo bit I want some clarification if possible. Thanks.

After a proper tune and alignment I would leave the Cobra 25 alone. If you need echo get a 2018 Extreme power/echo mic, they are superb mics. Roger beeps are retarded as can be so I won't even go there.

I've heard good things about the 2018 and I'll take your advice under consideration. As for your opinIon on the Roger beep, I do appreciate and respect it but at the same time resent the insult. It's disappointing that a senior member of this forum feels the need to resort to that behavior among adults. I started of this thread apologizing for my ignorance. Now to the people reading the thread out of interest for the hobby and willingness to learn new things, I apologize for this thread provoking the ignorance of others.

If you are going to fly off the handle every time someone has negative things to say about roger beeps, you are going to be upset most if not all of the time. Roger beeps are as annoying as listening to Al Sharpton diatribes.

Dino360, you might get the answer your looking for on the Mauldroppers forum. They are almost totally CB radio orientated, and like all noise toys, and for the most part don't like side band, or ham radio. There are of course those that do, but they are a small percentage of the group.

Hams, and sidebanders for the most part hate all forms of rogers beeps, echo's, etc.

the 2018 is a good mic, even without all the gadgets it comes with. It doesn't have a RB though.

Dino360 Don't disappear because you caught a little flack . The knowledge I this forum is unbelievable I myself didn't chime in as I also am a " Newbie ". Myself I can deal with a beep now an again but don't have much use for Echo an noise toy's . Take it with a grain of salt and Welcome to the forum .:pop:

So the ignorance really begins to show and is apparently in abundance on this forum. For those who think i flew off the handle, i beg to differ. I think i addressed the comment tactfully and respectfully and expressed appreciation for the opinion of another which everyone has a right to without lowering myself to childish insults. For those who are ignorant as to the difference in fact and opinion I can only say I pity you almost as much as I pity your wives, or boyfriends whichever the case may be, that have to suffer through that ignorance on a daily basis. For those who offered honest opinions in good faith, I thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. That is what this hobby is supposed to be about after all. Of course I understand that there will always be the wanna be agitators who"ain't got no panties on"and so forth and I realize that is also part of this hobby. Perhaps the ignorant remarks serve as an indication of who does have their panties on and they're obviously much too tight. Gentleman if a simple question about a Roger beep is enough to get your panties in a bunch them I'm very sorry for you. As a further example of ignorance and quite possibly utter stupidity, the topic of the thread was written in bold letters before you clicked on it. I apologize if it wasn't written in crayon so you could understand but if it's not a topic you wish to participate in our didn't agree with, you most definitely have the option to simply bypass the thread. Now I flew off the handle and dished out some childish insults of my own, see the difference? It's all in good fun so I thank you for the negativity as well, it can be somewhat amusing in a 3rd gradeish sort of way.

Take it easy, Some people do not like RB and/or echo, some do, there are a lot of members here, you will find a lot of different opinions on the subject.
If you are going to get your "panties in a wad" because someone says they do not like something you are not going to last long on any public forum, that is just life.
And if this thread upset you I would not recommend the droppers forum unless you like graphic gayed up porn, or insults, or guys telling you to go suck a big shlong if they disagree with you.

Dino360, I see you only have a few posts, so I don't know if your just new to the forum or CB radio in general. I think if you have enough skills to do that board on your 29, you can probably answer your own question. I would imagine someone may respond to your question in time. Or not. Hang around Bro. It's all good.

I came here to learn and to enjoy the hobby not to be insulted because someone else has a different opinion. I was respectful of their opinion but I'm free to express mine as well in any way I please, that is the right of every America and after 3 over seas tours I damned sure earned that right many times over. I'm not upset, I understand thatignorant people are everywhere and the best thing to do is laugh at ignorance and enjoy the fun for what it is. I'll last as long as long as it holds my interest and won't be scared off by a few ignorant people who believe they're opinion is the only one that matters. I'm sure there is someone else who has similar interests abd similar questions. For those people I will find the answer to the problem with our without the help I came here to ask for and I will share that knowledge to the best of my ability regardless of wether I agree with the way they want to set up there radio for their enjoyment.

I appreciate the reply and the advise. I'm not new to cb but I am new to working on them. I grew up fascinated with them in the 70s and 80's but my family couldnt afford such luxury items. I bought my first one in early 90's as a teen when I got my first car. I moved up from my first 19 ultra on to my RCI right before joining the Army in 2000. Multiple deployments and moves found my equipment stored away and cell phones kinda pushed the need for a cb onto the back burner. My son is now 16 and asked for one of my radios to put in his truck which re ignited my interest. The internet has made information easily available so now I'm able to save sine money by doing a lot of the work myself. It's something that interests me and something I enjoy doing. I'm confident I'll find my answer on my own of need be so I can share with others any experience and knowledge I may have.

Hey Dino360, Don't get pissed re-enlist LOL!

An old saying we used to use when someone on the ship got pissed about something.

First let me say Thanks for your service Bro. Secondly just laugh it off man. It's just a hobby for most. Some take it to serious. The thing is, if you've turned your radio on lately there's a whole lot of folks out there who are totally screwing up the frequencies with obnoxious noise toys, long ridicules roger beeps, playing music, saying the same thing over and over again, and it's really getting to everybody who just want to make a long distance contact while the skip is rolling. It really is a bummer when you finally make that contact , and some idiot uses 10k of power and is bleeding over 20 channels and blows it for you. That's why some of them are not to keen on how to make matters worse for them. I hope you can understand that.

Sometimes I think some of that stuff is funny, and again it is just a hobby, but for the most part it's annoying, and people on the air might not respond to you because of it.

Yes you especially have the right to voice your opinion, and ask questions, and whatnot. Don't lose any sleep over it. Just enjoy the hobby, and if you want to have a roger beep and echo.go for it.

I'll talk to you if I hear your call sign.

73, and again thanks for your service.
