The first is just to replace the stock bulb with another one that you can get from any number of CB shops online for a buck or two. Minimal soldering skills are required. Just pay attention to the details of how it is wired and the receptacle that holds the bulb. More mechanically difficult than electrically difficult to do. . .
The other way is to replace it with a white LED and a resistor. You can get them on eBay this way. They even sell LED's that change colors. They cost about three bucks and are kinda trick looking if you are into that sort of thing.
Seems to be dead on the radio lately. I don't know if the conditions are horrible, or more likely my weak antennas. I may head up in the mountains on Wednesday and see if reception / transmission is improved.
