Still confused

I came here looking for answers to the age old question "Which ground plane is better" and now I'm more confused. I understand that everybody has a opinion, but I want cold hard facts and data. I currently use a Maco V 5000 and run upward of 2K at times, but I want to ensure I have the best antenna for my needs. I have talked to guys that use the I 10-K and they have nothing but great things to say about them, but I want data. If the comparison is so close I wouldn't know the difference, then I guess I'll stay with the Maco, but if I can get more gain from another antenna, I would like to know about it.
I want to thank all of you for sharing your knowledge and experience so others may learn.
