Hi w9wdx readers,

I'm just starting out with ham radio, so I apologize in advance if this is obvious to others.

Travelling through Salt Lake City, UT, I heard this broadcast on 147.120 MHz K7JL from Farnsworth Peak (according to repeaterbook):

In an obviously computer-generated male voice:

Some time after 21:30 UTC, "1id1"

Some time after 22:00 UTC, "1id2"

At 22:41 UTC "1id3"

At 23:28 UTC "1id2"

At 23:37 UTC "1id3"

I apologize I don't have more accurate times on the transmissions but I was distracted.

That particular repeater is part of the Intermountain Intertie so I guess I could be hearing something from as far away as Las Vegas?

It's not the repeater callsign... I hear that transmitted in CW. It's not a valid maidenhead grid locator square.

I'm pretty mystified. Anyone have an idea what this broadcast means?
