Does it squeal if you unplug the external speaker?

I'll bet not. Stray RF is probally getting into the speaker wires. Coil or choke those wires, or just unplug it.

Oh you will have to research that for yourself.

Also, I bet it only squeals with the talkback on. With the talkback off and mic gain all the way open, get a radio check. Is it ok?

Damn talk backs cause more problems at times.

It's funny, we get 45-50 watts all day long out of these radios after some re-designing of the PA circuit, mostly capacitance changes. Also, we do changes to the talkback circuit. The guy probably removed the main limiter, added no RF bypasses, and did some strange internet mod talkback.

Justin @ FG Best did my General AP Hill up real well. (Like a connex 3300) Talk back on, mic gain all the way up, no squeal, crystal clear signal. The link is at the top of the page.

No a$$ kissing intended, just fact. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":">

I have a 3300hp in my truck at work, had it peaked and tuned by a tech that said he got 40 watts out of it, im using a road king mic that has helped some but when i key up i get a squeal sometimes. I have to keep the mic gain at half or a little more or it will squeal. I was told that i could go by rat shack and get a rf choke but i dont know much about that kind of stuff. Would the choke have to be put in the radio or on the external speaker wire? I have tried to move the external around and it did help some. Can anyone tell me what to do to take the squeal out so I can turn the mic gain up past half way.BTW Iam new to the board and love it.
