Anyone know if a sams was put out for the courier classic 3 pll? I have a 3 thats all crystal but i bought this pll version and its dead! It has a hint of transmit but its stone deaf on receive.....

Any chance there is an ID mark on the printed circuit board?

23-channel PLL radios were only around for a brief while. The period of 23-channel to 40-channel changeover got pretty chaotic for the manufacturers.

I haven't seen any tech info on that radio. But the pc-board number in your radio might turn up in another brand/model that has a diagram available for it.

Maybe.

Too bad you scrapped it. A pretty rare bird. Looks like an early-PLL cybernet radio. Since it still receives a bit, the PLL is obviously OK, so you would not have to deal with the white silicone that was applied by the manufacturer to give the VCO mechanical stability. Actually, on your first photo I noticed one of the coils having a ferrite core that is almost completely turned out, so I suspect someone has been messing with the alignment and it just needs a readjustment. But your post is from 2013 so I take it this radio has moved on to a better world a long time ago. A pity.
