I found an ad in craigslist, a couple years ago, that listed free CB radios.  I drove 6 hours round trip to pick them up.  I filled the back of my truck with them.  Literally over 100 radios.  I figured it was worth the gas to pick them up, even if only a few worked.  As it turned out, I drove 6 hours to go take out his trash, lol.  


I have purchased many radios, most of which used.  I'm pretty sure that every one has been to the shop.  Some have had multiple trips.  The funny thing is that even my radios that were purchased new, still required a visit to the bench.  It was before I learned what I was doing, and I purchased from a hack shop.  So purchasing new can be just as problematic as buying used, if you purchase from a bad shop.
